What’s a Brand?
Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot about business people, entertainers, sports superstars, and celebrities creating a brand. But what is a brand?
A brand is an intangible asset that helps the general populace identify a specific company or an individual with their products and services. This is especially the case when individuals or companies want to differentiate themselves from others who provide similar products and services in the same niche or market.
A Domain Name Can Be a Brand
Building on this, it’s been said that your brand may be the single most important investment you can make for your business. To the extent that this statement is correct, when people buy a domain, they’re buying more than a domain name; they’re buying a brand.
A Local Domain Name and Your Brand
If small business owners are interested in building their brand in their local community, then it makes a lot of sense for them to consider buying a local domain name in the following format: city + profession.
For instance, a doctor located in Modesto, California could purchase a domain name such as the following: ModestoDoctors.com. This not only makes sense from a local search perspective, but it also makes sense when a business owner is trying to create or enhance his or her brand.
